Weekly Grocery Budget Calculator
A month is not exactly four weeks, so this uses 4.33 weeks per month for weekly figures and 30 days for daily ones.
These figures split the monthly budget into a weekly spending limit and a smaller daily spending limit, so staying within the daily figure keeps the month on track.
Formula
Weekly = monthly / 4.33. Daily = monthly / 30.
How it works
Using 4.33 weeks per month (52 weeks divided by 12 months) avoids the classic shortfall of budgeting four weeks and running out before month-end.
Tracking spending against the weekly figure, rather than the monthly one, catches overspending early while there is still time to adjust.
Worked example
For example, a monthly budget of $400 gives a weekly budget of $92.38 and a daily budget of $13.33.
FAQs
Why 4.33 and not 4?
Because most months have more than 28 days. A year has 52 weeks, so each month averages 52 / 12 = 4.33 weeks.
Should I include eating out?
Keep it separate if you can — mixing restaurant spending into groceries hides where the money actually goes.
What if my income is weekly?
Multiply your weekly grocery amount by 4.33 to get the monthly figure, and budget from there.
