Book Reading Time Calculator
Multiply pages by your minutes per page, then divide by your daily reading time to see the finish date in days.
The result gives the total reading time in hours and the number of days at the daily reading minutes entered, so you can plan how many days the book will take at your current daily habit.
Formula
Total minutes = pages x minutes per page. Days = total minutes / daily reading minutes.
How it works
Minutes per page varies with the book: light fiction runs faster than dense non-fiction, and your pace improves as you settle into a book.
A small daily habit beats occasional long sessions for most readers — thirty minutes a day finishes a 300-page book in about three weeks.
Worked example
For example, a 300-page book at 2 minutes per page gives 300 × 2 = 600 minutes in total, which is 10.0 hours; at 30 minutes of reading per day, 600 ÷ 30 = 20 days, so the book takes about 20 days to finish.
FAQs
What is a typical reading speed?
Around 200–250 words per minute for most adults, which is roughly 1–2 minutes per average page.
Why does non-fiction take longer?
Denser ideas, unfamiliar terms and the need to pause and think all slow the pace compared with a novel.
Should I count re-reading?
For a first read, no. If you re-read passages often, add a little to your minutes-per-page figure.
