Packing List Weight Calculator
Multiply your items by their average weight to check against an airline's baggage limit before you pack.
This result is the estimated weight of the packed items only, so the weight of the bag itself still has to be added before comparing it with the airline limit.
Formula
Total weight = item count x average weight, plus the bag's own weight.
How it works
The bag itself is easy to forget — a large suitcase alone can weigh 3–4 kg, eating a chunk of a 23 kg allowance.
Weigh the packed bag on a bathroom scale if you are close to the limit: weigh yourself, then weigh yourself holding the bag, and subtract.
Worked example
For example, 20 items at 0.5 kg each weigh 10.0 kg in total, before adding the weight of the bag itself: 20 × 0.5 = 10.0 kg.
FAQs
What is a typical checked-bag limit?
23 kg is common for economy on many airlines, but limits vary — always check your ticket.
How do I weigh luggage at home?
Stand on a bathroom scale holding the bag, then subtract your own weight.
Why estimate before packing?
Because repacking at the airport, or paying excess fees, is far more painful than leaving one item out at home.
