Wholesale Price Calculator

Derive a wholesale price from a retail price and the trade discount percentage.

—

The Wholesale price result is the amount a retailer pays per unit, before delivery and any volume terms agreed separately.

Formula

Wholesale price = retail price multiplied by (1 minus wholesale discount as a decimal).

How it works

Start with the price the end customer pays and subtract the retailer's share. The result is what a retailer pays you per unit, before any volume deals or delivery charges you agree separately.

Worked example

For example, a retail price of $100 with a 40% wholesale discount gives a wholesale price of $100 × (1 - 0.40) = $60.

FAQs

Does this include delivery?
No, delivery and payment terms are agreed on top of the wholesale price unless stated otherwise.

What discount is typical?
It varies by trade, commonly around a third to a half of retail for many consumer goods, but always check your own market.

Can I offer tiered pricing?
Yes, run the calculation once per tier with that tier's discount to compare the prices.
