Ad Spend ROAS Calculator

Compare advertising revenue with ad spend to get return on ad spend as a multiple and percentage.

—

The ROAS multiple shows revenue earned for each dollar of ad spend, so a higher multiple means more revenue came back for the same spend. It is revenue, not profit.

Formula

Return on ad spend = revenue attributed to ads divided by ad spend. A result of 4 means four dollars of revenue per dollar spent.

How it works

Enter what the ads cost and the revenue they brought in over the same period. The multiple shows whether the campaign pays for itself in revenue terms. Remember that revenue is not profit, so costs of goods and fulfilment still come out of it.

Worked example

For example, $4000 of revenue divided by $1000 of ad spend gives a ROAS of 4.00x, which is 400% of spend returned as revenue.

FAQs

Is ROAS the same as profit?
No. ROAS compares revenue with ad spend only. A campaign can have strong ROAS and still lose money after product and delivery costs.

What is a good ROAS?
It depends on margins. Thin-margin products need a higher multiple than high-margin ones to break even.

How is revenue attributed?
Use the tracking or platform figure, but check it against real orders, since attribution is never perfect.
