Running Pace Calculator
Work out pace per kilometre and speed from a run's distance and time.
The pace tells you how many minutes each kilometre takes, while the speed tells you how many kilometres you would cover in one hour at that same effort.
Formula
Pace equals total minutes divided by kilometres; speed equals kilometres divided by hours.
How it works
Total time is divided by distance for pace, and distance divided by time in hours for speed. Both describe the same run from opposite directions.
Worked example
For example, a 5 km run in 30 minutes gives a pace of 30 ÷ 5 = 6:00 min/km, and a speed of 5 ÷ 0.5 = 10.0 km/h.
FAQs
