BMI Calculator
Estimate body mass index from weight and height, a quick screening number, not a full health picture.
The result gives a single screening number with a broad weight-status band, so a value in the healthy range means the weight sits within that broad band for the height entered, not a full health assessment on its own.
Formula
BMI equals weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared.
How it works
Enter your weight and height, and the page divides weight by height squared. The result is shown with a broad weight-status band. Muscle, bone and body shape are not captured, so treat it as one screening figure alongside other measures.
Worked example
For example, a weight of 70 kg and a height of 175 cm gives a height of 1.75 m, and 70 divided by 1.75 squared equals 22.9 kg/m², which falls in the healthy range shown by the calculator.
FAQs
Is this result exact?
No. It is a population screening formula, so two people with the same BMI can have very different body composition.
What affects the result most?
Weight and height. Small height errors change the result more than most people expect.
How should I use this result?
As a starting point for a conversation, not as a diagnosis on its own.
General information only, not medical advice.
