Calories Burned Running Calculator
Estimate running energy use from weight, time and running intensity.
The result is an estimate of the energy used during the run, so about 343 kcal means the run is estimated to burn roughly 343 kilocalories in total.
Formula
Calories equal MET value × weight in kilograms × hours of running.
How it works
The intensity band sets the MET value, time is converted to hours, and weight scales the result. Heavier runners burn more for the same run, which is why weight is in the formula.
Worked example
For example, a 70 kg runner doing a steady run (MET 9.8) for 30 minutes burns 9.8 × 70 × 0.5 hours = 343 kcal, so the calculator shows about 343 kcal for 30 minutes of running.
FAQs
Why does weight matter so much?
Moving more mass costs more energy, step for step.
Does speed matter beyond MET?
Speed is already inside the MET choice; pick the closest band.
Are watch numbers better?
Watches add heart rate, but they are still estimates.
