Finance Zakat

Estimate Zakat at 2.5 percent on qualifying wealth.

The net qualifying wealth is cash and savings plus gold and silver value minus debts owed, and the estimated Zakat is 2.5 percent of that net figure.

Worked example

For example, cash and savings of $20,000 plus gold and silver value of $5,000 minus debts of $2,000 gives net qualifying wealth of $23,000.00, and 2.5% of that is $23,000.00 x 0.025 = $575.00.
