Wedding Loan EMI Calculator (25 Years)
Estimate the monthly EMI for a loan from amount, rate and term. This wedding version uses a 25-year planning term as its starting point.
The Monthly payment is the fixed amount due every month for 25 years, and the Total paid is the full amount handed over by the last payment, covering both the borrowed amount and all interest charged over the term.
Formula
EMI equals principal times monthly rate times one plus monthly rate to the power of payments, divided by that power minus one.
How it works
This assumes a fixed rate and equal monthly payments with no extra fees.
Worked example
Loan amount $200,000, annual rate 6.5%, term 25 years. The monthly rate is 6.5% divided by 12, which is about 0.5417% a month, and the number of payments is 25 times 12, which is 300 months. Using the page formula, the EMI is $1,350.41 a month. That is the calculator's own result for these defaults. Over 300 payments the total paid is $405,124.30, so the interest paid is $405,124.30 minus $200,000, which is $205,124.30.
Who this term suits for a wedding: A couple warned by the numbers rather than helped by them: a 25-year wedding loan is a cautionary illustration, since interest passes the amount borrowed.
FAQs
What is an EMI?
An EMI is a fixed monthly payment that covers both interest and principal over the loan term.
Is this wedding calculator exact?
No, it is an estimate for planning only, based on the numbers you enter.
Are these figures financial advice?
No, they are estimates for planning only, not financial advice. Check with a qualified adviser for decisions involving large sums.
Why does the 25-year total pass $400,000?
At $1,350.41 a month for 300 months, total interest reaches $205,124.30, more than the $200,000 borrowed. The loan costs more in interest than the wedding itself cost.
How should a couple review a 25-year wedding debt?
Review it whenever income, housing or family plans change, because a payment fixed for 25 years will outlive most of the plans made at the wedding.
What wedding risks grow over 25 years on a loan like this?
Job changes, children, house moves and rate changes on any variable part of the borrowing can all make a fixed $1,350.41 payment harder, even though the amount itself never changes.
