Wedding Loan EMI Calculator (15 Years)

Estimate the monthly EMI for a loan from amount, rate and term. This wedding version uses a 15-year planning term as its starting point.

—

The Monthly payment is the fixed amount due every month for 15 years, and the Total paid is everything handed over across the whole term, including interest on top of the loan itself.

Formula

EMI equals principal times monthly rate times one plus monthly rate to the power of payments, divided by that power minus one.

How it works

This assumes a fixed rate and equal monthly payments with no extra fees.

Worked example

Loan amount $200,000, annual rate 6.5%, term 15 years. The monthly rate is 6.5% divided by 12, which is about 0.5417% a month, and the number of payments is 15 times 12, which is 180 months. Using the page formula, the EMI is $1,742.21 a month. That is the calculator's own result for these defaults. Over 180 payments the total paid is $313,598.65, so the interest paid is $313,598.65 minus $200,000, which is $113,598.65.

Who this term suits for a wedding: A couple stretching payments to keep monthly costs down, for example a large family wedding where the loan also covers travel and guest costs over 15 years.

FAQs

What is an EMI?
An EMI is a fixed monthly payment that covers both interest and principal over the loan term.

Is this wedding calculator exact?
No, it is an estimate for planning only, based on the numbers you enter.

Are these figures financial advice?
No, they are estimates for planning only, not financial advice. Check with a qualified adviser for decisions involving large sums.

Why is total interest $113,598.65 over 15 years?
The monthly payment drops to $1,742.21, but interest is charged on a slowly falling balance for 180 months, so the total interest is more than half the amount borrowed.

Should a wedding loan ever run for 15 years?
Rarely. Fifteen years is longer than most marriages take to build savings, buy a home or start a family, and the debt would still be running through all of those plans.

What if the couple's income grows during 15 years?
Rising income makes the fixed $1,742.21 EMI easier over time, but it does not reduce the $113,598.65 of interest already built into the schedule unless extra payments are made.
