Savings Rate Calculator
Find what share of income you save each month.
A savings rate of 20.00% means 20.00% of monthly after-tax income is saved, and the rest is spent or used elsewhere.
Formula
Savings rate equals amount saved divided by after-tax income, times 100.
How it works
Savings rate is one of the strongest predictors of financial progress, more than income alone. It counts money set aside for goals, investing, and debt overpayment in some definitions — here it is cash saved.
Worked example
For example, with monthly income after tax of $4000 and a monthly amount saved of $800, the savings rate is $800 / $4000 x 100 = 20.00%.
FAQs
What is a good savings rate?
20% is a common target; higher rates shorten the path to big goals.
Should debt repayment count?
Extra debt repayment builds net worth like saving, so some people include it.
Why after-tax income?
That is the money you actually control.
