Sales Tax Calculator
Add sales tax to a price, or extract the tax already included in a price.
The result shows how much of the amount is sales tax, so the other figure is the price before tax or the total to pay, depending on the option chosen.
Formula
For a tax-exclusive price, total equals price times one plus rate divided by 100; for a tax-inclusive price, the tax part is price minus price divided by one plus rate divided by 100.
How it works
Rates vary by place and product, so enter the rate that applies to you — no rate is assumed here. The toggle lets you work in either direction.
Worked example
For example, with a price of $100, a sales tax rate of 8%, and the price not already including tax, the tax is $8.00 and the total is $108.00.
