Rebar Weight Calculator

Estimate the total weight of reinforcing bars from length, bar count and weight per metre.

—

This result is the total weight of all the bars together, which is the figure to use when ordering and planning delivery.

Formula

Total weight = length per bar multiplied by number of bars multiplied by weight per metre. Use the weight per metre for the bar size you are actually buying.

How it works

Enter the length of each bar, how many bars you need, and the weight per metre for that bar diameter. The result helps with ordering and delivery planning. Always confirm bar sizes and laps with the structural design before ordering.

Worked example

For example, 10 bars of 6 metres at 0.888 kg per metre give 6 x 10 x 0.888 = 53.28 kg, shown as 53.3 kg.

FAQs

What weight per metre should I use?
It depends on bar diameter. A 12 mm bar is about 0.888 kg/m, while larger bars weigh more per metre. Check the supplier's table for your size.

Does this include laps and waste?
No. Add lap lengths and a small waste allowance on top of the straight-bar result.

Is this a structural design?
No. This is a weight estimate only. Bar sizes and spacing must come from a licensed structural design.
