Rabbit Food Amount Calculator

Estimate daily pellets and vegetables for a rabbit from body weight, with unlimited hay.

—

This result is a daily feeding guide in grams of pellets and cups of vegetables, with hay always available alongside fresh water.

Formula

Pellets are about 12.5 g per kilogram of body weight per day; vegetables about half a cup per kilogram.

How it works

Weight scales both pellets and vegetables, while hay stays unlimited because it drives digestion and dental wear. Introduce new vegetables gradually, one at a time.

Worked example

For example, a rabbit weighing 2 kg needs about 2 × 12.5 = 25 g of pellets per day and 2 ÷ 2 = 1.0 cups of vegetables per day, with hay unlimited.

FAQs

What is the most important food?
Hay. It should make up most of the diet.

Can rabbits eat unlimited pellets?
No. Too many pellets crowd out hay.

Are all vegetables safe?
No. Some are unsuitable, so check each new vegetable first.
