Lease Payment Estimate Calculator

Roughly estimate a monthly lease payment from price, residual, and money factor.

—

The result shows your estimated monthly lease payment before tax and fees, split into a depreciation part and a finance part, so you can see what makes up each monthly payment.

Formula

Monthly lease payment is depreciation (price minus residual over term) plus finance charge (price plus residual times money factor).

How it works

Money factor is the lease's interest expression — multiply by 2,400 for a rough APR. Taxes, fees, and mileage charges are not included.

Worked example

For example, a vehicle price of $30,000 and a residual value of $18,000 over 36 months give a depreciation part of ($30,000 − $18,000) ÷ 36 = $333.33, a finance part of ($30,000 + $18,000) × 0.0025 = $120.00, and a monthly lease payment of $333.33 + $120.00 = $453.33 before tax and fees.

Multiply money factor by 2,400 for an approximate APR.

Why lease instead of buy?
Lower monthly payments and a newer car, but no ownership at the end.
