Income Tax Estimate Calculator
Estimate tax from income and a rate you enter — no rate is assumed for you.
This result shows how much of the income is taxed, the estimated tax on that amount, and what remains after that tax is taken off.
Formula
Taxable income equals income minus deductions, and tax equals taxable income times the rate divided by 100.
How it works
Real tax systems use brackets, credits, and local rules, so this single-rate estimate is a rough planning figure only. Enter the effective rate you expect, or a marginal rate for an extra dollar of income.
Worked example
For example, with an annual income of $60,000, a tax rate of 20%, and deductions of $0, the taxable income is $60,000, the estimated tax is $60,000 × 20 ÷ 100 = $12,000, and the amount after tax is $60,000 − $12,000 = $48,000.
FAQs
Why no rate built in?
Rates differ by country, region, and income, so entering your own rate avoids a wrong assumption.
What is an effective rate?
Total tax divided by total income — usually lower than the top marginal rate.
Is this a filing figure?
No — use official tables or a tax professional for filing.
Are these figures financial advice?
No — they are estimates for planning only, not financial advice. Check with a qualified adviser for decisions involving large sums.
