Business Loan EMI Calculator (15 Years)
Estimate the monthly EMI for a loan from amount, rate and term. This business version uses a 15-year planning term as its starting point.
In real terms, the Monthly payment is the fixed amount due each month over 15 years, and the Total paid is the full sum of all those monthly payments, including the original loan amount.
Formula
EMI equals principal times monthly rate times one plus monthly rate to the power of payments, divided by that power minus one.
How it works
This assumes a fixed rate and equal monthly payments with no extra fees.
Worked example
Loan amount $200,000, annual rate 6.5%, term 15 years. The monthly rate is 6.5% divided by 12, which is 0.0054167, and the number of payments is 15 times 12, which is 180. Using the EMI formula, the monthly payment is $1,742.21. Over 180 payments the total paid is $1,742.21 times 180, which is $313,598.65. Total interest is $313,598.65 minus $200,000, which is $113,598.65. That is 56.8% of the amount borrowed, so more than half the amount borrowed is paid again in interest over the term.
Who this term suits for a business: A 15-year term suits a business making a long-lived investment, for example buying a freehold unit, a delivery fleet, or production equipment expected to last well over a decade, where a lower payment of $1,742.21 leaves room to maintain and replace stock. The owner accepts $113,598.65 in interest in exchange for that breathing room, and should check that the asset will still be earning at year 15.
FAQs
What is an EMI?
An EMI is a fixed monthly payment that covers both interest and principal over the loan term.
Is this business calculator exact?
No, it is an estimate for planning only, based on the numbers you enter.
Are these figures financial advice?
No, they are estimates for planning only, not financial advice. Check with a qualified adviser for decisions involving large sums.
Is a 15-year business loan too long?
It can be if the asset being bought will not last 15 years, because the business would still be paying after the asset is gone. Match the term to the useful life of what the loan buys: long-lived premises or equipment fit a 15-year term better than short-lived stock or technology.
Why is the interest $113,598.65 when the rate is only 6.5%?
Because interest is charged every month for 180 months. A 6.5% annual rate applied over 15 years adds up to a large total even though each monthly payment looks modest. The calculator shows total paid $313,598.65 so the full cost is visible before signing.
Should a business refinance a 15-year loan later?
Refinancing can help if rates fall or the business can afford a higher payment later, but it depends on fees, the remaining balance, and the lender's terms. This calculator assumes a fixed 6.5% rate and no fees, so any refinance should be compared on total cost, not on the monthly payment alone, and checked with a qualified adviser.
